If You Can't Pass the Turkey This Thanksgiving, You Can Pass Your Values

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! Last year I hosted for the first time in 20 years and it was wonderful. The drawing above shows my parents helping in the kitchen. Thanks again Sam & Bess!

However, this year will not be the same. We made a decision that our girls would not be coming home and that we will celebrate Thanksgiving via Zoom.

Don’t feel so bad for my girls…They don’t enjoy turkey so we are starting a new tradition, we are sending them Lou Malnati's pizza.

There are some very special people who will not be with us this Thanksgiving.  We can’t take for granted the times we spend together as a family.

Hopefully you will be able to spend time with loved ones whether in your garage, by phone or by Zoom. Take some time to share your values. Here are some ideas to talk about:

•    Tell a family story, especially about someone who is not with us anymore.

•    What was a big decision point in your life?  How did your values guide your decision?

•    Who made a difference in your life when you needed a helping hand?

•    What tradition or values do you most want to continue in your family?

You may be surprised at what we can learn from each other. Who knows, maybe this will turn into a new tradition.

All the best for a Happy Thanksgiving. From my family to yours.
