A Mountain Climber and a Yo-Yo

Close your eyes and visualize a mountain climber ascending a peak. Let's zoom in. The climber is playing with a yo-yo as she moves higher and higher. This is a very accomplished climber who has mastered both skills!

When you visualize this scenario, are you focused on the mountain climber reaching the summit or the yo-yo going up and down?

Now think about your own investment journey. The yo-yo represents the daily moves of the stock market, and the mountain climber represents the progress of the market over time. Eventually the climber is rewarded with success. But along the way the yo-yo continues to go up and down.

Don’t spend your time focused on the yo-yo. Take the long view and focus on the climb. You will be rewarded with a successful investing experience.
